Precise to the metre and minute for Lower Saxony, Hamburg, parts of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and train services throughout Germany.

Including mobile phone ticket for tariffs of the Verkehrsverbund Bremen/Niedersachsen (VBN), Verkehrsverbund Süd-Niedersachsen (VSN), Niedersachsentarif and of course the Deutschlandticket, mobile at any time, from anywhere!

Operating systems

The FahrPlaner app is available for devices with Android operating system (at least Android 8) and iOS operating system (Apple). Click here to go to the app stores where you can download the FahrPlaner app:

FahrPlaner app for Android operating systems

FahrPlaner app for iOS operating systems (Apple)

For Android operating systems, we can send you a current installation file of the FahrPlaner app on request. Please send your message to: app(at)fahrplaner.de. Please note that problems with the Google account and/or functional restrictions may occur, for example with the map display or with push notifications. We do not offer support for this.

Installation files for iOS operating systems are not available.

Authorisations

After installing the FahrPlaner App, you can decide for yourself whether or not you want to allow the functions and thus the authorisations. On iOS devices and devices with Android 8 or a higher version, the individual authorisations can be permanently activated or deactivated in the Android system settings and are no longer queried before the installation of the FahrPlaner App. On older Android devices, access to individual authorisations can be controlled manually in the app settings after installation.

Access to your contacts is required for the function to transfer addresses from the contacts as start or destination in the journey planner app's connection search.

Authorisation for network communication is required for the connection to the Internet (WLAN/mobile phone) in order to call up timetable and real-time data.

Authorisation for "Take pictures and videos" (camera) is required to use your own pictures for icons in "My addresses". This authorisation is also required to be able to use your own images in the "Praise & criticism" form.

Based on your location, the FahrPlaner App shows you nearby stops, journey options and service messages (news). For example, when searching for a start or destination, the location is used to prioritise nearby stops and points.

Authorisation to send push messages is required for the use of alarms (connection alarm, commuter alarm).

The FahrPlaner app can be used to purchase mobile phone tickets for the Bremen/Lower Saxony Transport Association (VBN), the Southern Lower Saxony Transport Association (VSN), the Niedersachsentarif and, of course, the Deutschlandticket. Mobile phone tickets cannot be printed out as a PDF.

Tickets for the Niedersachsentarif are also available as online tickets in the Niedersachsentarif ticket shop or via the FahrPlaner web application. A purchased online ticket is automatically loaded into the FahrPlaner app if you are logged in with your account. Online tickets can also be printed out as a PDF in the Niedersachsentarif ticket shop before travelling.

To buy a mobile phone or online ticket, you must be at least 18 years old and have legal capacity. For the mobile phone ticket, you need an internet-enabled mobile phone (Android/iOS) and the latest FahrPlaner app as well as an online connection. You can create a customer account in the app or on the FahrPlaner website or buy as a "guest" (payment by credit card, PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay).

For the mobile phone ticket, select your ticket in the "Tickets" menu or via the connection search; it will be downloaded directly to your mobile phone.

Only the Niedersachsentarif products are available as online tickets. You can buy the online ticket in the Niedersachsentarif ticket shop or via the connection search in the FahrPlaner web application. After purchasing, you can download the ticket as a PDF. It will also be loaded into the FahrPlaner app when you are logged in.

After purchase, your mobile phone ticket is loaded directly into the FahrPlaner app. An internet connection is required for this. The purchased mobile phone ticket can then be found under the menu item "Tickets". The ticket can also be accessed in offline mode once it has been loaded. Please note that you must remain logged into your customer account to do this.

You can download and print out the online ticket as a PDF after purchasing it in the Niedersachsentarif ticket shop. It will also be automatically loaded into the FahrPlaner app if you are logged into your customer account.

Automated purchase receipts are only available for mobile phone and online tickets purchased with a customer account.

You can find an overview of your purchased mobile phone tickets in your customer portal. To do this, log in to the FahrPlaner website under the customer login or in the Niedersachsentarif ticket shop. Here you can view and print out purchase receipts for every mobile phone and online ticket purchased.

There are no automated purchase receipts for purchases made as a "guest". In this case, please contact tickets(at)vbn.de.

Mobile and online tickets for the Niedersachsentarif can be cancelled before the first day of validity. After that, returns or cancellations are excluded.

Niedersachsen-Ticket, VSN mobile phone tickets and VBN mobile phone tickets cannot be returned or cancelled.

There will be no refund of the Deutschlandticket.

VBN and VSN fare tickets are valid immediately upon completion of the purchase process and - with the exception of day tickets in the VSN fare - cannot be purchased in advance for a later start of validity.

The Deutschlandticket can be purchased for the current month as well as for the following month.

Mobile phone tickets as tickets for the Niedersachsentarif can be purchased a maximum of three months in advance.

Before entering the vehicle, the purchase process must be completed and the mobile phone ticket must be visible on the mobile phone display.

Please check whether you are logged in to the app. Proceed as follows:

  1. Open the app and click on the "Tickets" tab.
  2. Click on the profile symbol ("little man") at the top right.
  3. Check whether you are logged in.

If you are not logged in, log in with your access data so that your ticket is displayed.

Show the ticket inspector your mobile phone with the mobile ticket opened on the display within the FahrPlaner app or the online ticket as a printed PDF. Mobile phone and online tickets are only valid in combination with an official photo ID.

Ticket control even without mobile phone reception:
Once the purchase process has been completed, the mobile phone ticket is available offline as a valid ticket under the "Tickets" menu item. To do this, you must remain logged into your customer account.

If the mobile phone ticket cannot be shown at the ticket inspection (because the mobile phone is not working or has been lost), this is considered a journey without a valid ticket. An increased fare of at least 60 euros will then be charged.

Deutschlandticket

You can cancel your travelcard by the 10th of the month with effect from the end of the month.

If you have purchased the Deutschlandticket from a contractual partner, please contact your contractual partner to cancel.

If you have purchased the Deutschlandticket directly in the FahrPlaner app, use the cancellation option in the app. This is available from version 7. Alternatively, you can use the "Cancel subscription" button in the monthly email for the Deutschlandticket from VBN.

If you have the Deutschlandticket in the "ABOS im VBN" app, you can cancel it directly in the "ABOS im VBN" app

There is generally no refund for the Deutschlandticket. If the ticket was purchased after the cancellation period, there will be no refund for the following month. Even if you have already left the country as a holidaymaker, a refund is not possible.

You can easily manage your travelcard in the FahrPlaner app. To do this, go to your customer account in the ticket area and select the "Subscriptions" section. There you can view all the details of your travelcard and manage it (e.g. cancel).

Yes, you can buy the Deutschlandticket for a single month only, either in the previous month or up to and including the 10th of the current month. Please note that you must cancel your subscription by the 10th of the month if you only want to use the Deutschlandticket for one month.

The Deutschlandticket is offered as a subscription and can only be cancelled by the 10th of the current month. If you buy the ticket after the 10th of a month, you will automatically receive a ticket for the following month. This means that you have a ticket for the current month and the following month.

The amount for the first monthly travel authorisation is due immediately after the subscription contract is concluded. The amounts for the following months are due when the corresponding ticket is made available in the app each month, in the middle of the previous month. The monthly direct debit is always made from the payment method you specified when taking out the subscription.

It is not possible to change your means of payment during the contract period. You must cancel the contract and conclude a new contract with the desired payment details after it expires.

If the direct debit for your Deutschlandticket has failed, a new direct debit will be made at the end of the month. If this fails again, the subscription will be cancelled automatically. To avoid this, make sure that your payment method is valid.

The amounts for the following months are due when the corresponding ticket is made available in the app each month, in the middle of the previous month. The debit is therefore already part of your Deutschlandticket for the next month. This will also be confirmed to you in an e-mail.

Payments

The following payment methods are available for registered ticket purchases (with a customer account): SEPA direct debit, credit card, PayPal, Apple Pay or Google Pay

For purchases as a "guest" without registration, the following payment methods are available: by credit card, PayPal, Apple Pay or Google Pay

The Deutschlandticket can be paid for conveniently by credit card or SEPA.

The SEPA procedure via the Verimi ID service is a secure payment method that protects your bank details. Verification takes place via bank ID, which ensures a fast and secure payment process.

Logpay Financial Services GmbH has been commissioned to process payment transactions for the purchase of mobile phone and online tickets.

Customer account

Select the ‘Forgotten password’ function. Answer the security question you created during registration and set a new password. Make sure that you do not use a space at the end of your answer and that you use upper and lower case letters.

You can delete your account in the FahrPlaner app by going to your customer account in the ticket area and selecting ‘Delete account’. This option is available from version 7. Alternatively, you can also delete your account via shop.fahrplaner.de. Remember: After deleting your account, you will no longer have access to your existing tickets and will no longer be able to print out any purchase receipts.

If you change your mobile phone, you must reinstall the FahrPlaner app. Your customer account will remain the same and can be accessed via the e-mail address and password you used previously. All mobile phone tickets that are still valid can be accessed via the ‘Tickets’ menu item.

If you lose your mobile phone, you should immediately change your password in the customer portal on the fahrplaner.de website under: Customer login or in the Niedersachsentarif ticket shop to prevent ticket purchases by unauthorised persons.

The mobile phone ticket is not linked to your mobile phone number. You log into the FahrPlaner app regardless of the SIM card you use and your personal settings and booked tickets are loaded.

You can easily change your password in your customer account either via the Fahrplaner app (menu item ‘Tickets’ - header symbol) or on the fahrplaner.de website under customer login or in the Niedersachsentarif ticket shop.

If you have forgotten your password, you can also reset it there and have a new password sent to you.

We guarantee careful handling of your personal data, which we only pass on to the relevant service providers (eos.uptrade GmbH, Hamburg and LogPay Financial Services GmbH, Eschborn) for the purpose of technical processing and billing. App settings

You can use widgets on mobile phones with Android operating systems. Create the widget via the functions of your device. The FahrPlaner widget shows you current departure times with real-time information on stops near you or your favourite stops.

Under the Settings menu in the app, you can specify which interface the app should start with under ‘App opens with’. For example, if you want quick access to your ticket, select ‚Tickets’.

The FahrPlaner app offers various options for customising your route. To do this, click on the small cogwheel on the right in the connection search. Here you can make settings for how often you want to change, how far away the stop can be and many other options to make your journey as pleasant as possible.

To add a favourite, go to the timetable overview of the FahrPlaner app. Below the window where you search for connections, you will see a light grey circle with a cross. Tap on it to add a favourite.

Select an address or stop that you would like to save. Under ‘Insert image’, you can select a ready-made icon or upload an image from your gallery. Then give the favourite a name and tap on ‘Add favourite’.

To delete or edit a favourite, press and hold the corresponding favourite icon for a few seconds.

The name of the stop has been replaced with your personal entry.

To access a selected journey option without an internet connection, save it on your mobile phone: Call up the desired connection, select a journey option and click on ‘Save’. You can then quickly find your offline connection via the ‘My routes’ menu item. Please note that information on delays and/or disruptions cannot be updated without an internet connection.

To save a route, you must first enter and search for the desired connection. Then click on the desired connection and select save. This connection is now under your routes and does not need to be searched for again later.

Alarm, push notifications

To set up an alarm, you must first enter and search for the desired connection. Then click on the desired connection to set an alarm for it by clicking on the relevant icon. You will be informed of changes by push message from one hour before departure. Delays are pushed as soon as they are longer than 5 minutes. If you want to change this configuration, you must open the alarm settings. Go to the ‘Alarms’ menu item, select the relevant alarm and click on ‚Edit’.

Both alarms can be set for an individual period of time. However, a connection alarm only applies to a specific connection; you will only be informed about changes to this connection. With the commuter alarm, you set a time period that can include several connections in order to be informed about changes to the journey.

To only receive notifications from certain transport groups, first go to the options. Here you can select, for example, which means of transport you do not want to be shown. Then search for your connection as usual and set up the commuter alarm. When the alarm is created, your individual settings are applied.

The alarm is valid until the next timetable change. After that, you will need to set it up again. Timetable changes take place at least once a year (mid-December), or more frequently for some companies. The connection alarm currently starts one hour before departure.

Map

The live map is available in the app from version 8. You activate it within the map layers. The transport services are displayed when the stops are activated. A separate display without stops (as in the WebApp) is not possible.

In the web application, you will find the Livemap tab in the map options. You can use this to activate the live map. Alternatively, click on the LiveMap icon at the bottom right of the map. You can also filter your selection in the map options if you only want certain transport services to be displayed.

In the map options of the WebApp, you can choose between two data sources for the vehicle position via a drop-down menu: calculated vehicle position based on real-time data and the last reported GPS vehicle position. If no GPS data is available, the real-time data and its calculation are used automatically. Vehicles without GPS and real-time data are not displayed.

This option will be available in the FahrPlaner app from version 9. This version will be released in 2025.

Usage problems

Real-time information represents a forecast. Deviations can therefore not always be avoided. The FahrPlaner displays the data transmitted by the transport companies. If you notice any incorrect information, please send us an e-mail to app(at)fahrplaner.de. Please provide as much information as possible about the connection (line, direction, start stop, departure time), the time and the type of your query (connection search, departure board or push message). Thank you for your help!

If you notice an error in the functionality of the app, please report it to us by e-mail to app(at)fahrplaner.de. Please provide as much information as possible about the error (e.g. screenshots), the app version (Settings - App - Info), operating system with version (iOS/Android), device type and time when the error occurred. Many thanks for your help!

The coordinates of a stop have been changed in the system, which is why it no longer matches your previously searched stop. Such changes can occur as transport companies regularly update their data to ensure accuracy and reliability. In such cases, delete the affected stop from the overview. To do this, click on the stop, hold down and move it to the left. You can then search for the stop again.

Transport companies often do not send their timetable data that far in advance. This is because timetables can change and we want to ensure that the information is up-to-date and reliable.
